Very sandy road! If you are looking on a map you will see the slot canyon marked as Red Canyon, but the locals have chose to call it Peek-a-Boo Slot Canyon, perhaps because of the nearby section of Dixie National Forest known as Red Canyon. Not really long but a fun area to explore. This great little slot canyon is more officially known as Red Slot Canyon. Hike at Peek-a-boo Slot Canyon near Kanab, Utah. The trailhead is Best Friends Animal Sanctuary (Angel Canyon Rd.) located. En route to the canyon, you'll enjoy an exciting off-roading adventure while getting to the canyon. Kanab's Peek-a-Book Canyon is an awesome slot canyon that's easy to hike too and not as crowded as other in major parks. The gulch is most famous because of the last 100 meters, before the junction with Dry Fork of Coyote Gulch - here the ravine cuts deeper into the red Navajo sandstone, forming a series of interlinked potholes. Peekaboo Gulch is a small drainage - for the most part just a sandy wash, it eventually enters a half mile narrows section, very twisting and convoluted though only a few meters deep. Spooky is well-named and pretty famous for how dark it gets when deep in a slot, and for the panic-inspiring quality of its extremely narrow walls. Spooky Gulch is a short slot canyon hike in the Grand Staircase-Escalante area, located on the Hole-in-the-Rock Road, 26 miles south of the town of Escalante. ![]()
